About Us

Buy a Minute is a live clock on the internet. Every minute of every day, India time, can carry one name and one short line. When the clock reaches that minute, the name and the line are shown to everyone watching for the full sixty seconds.

What it is, plainly

It is an online display service, delivered on this website. You pay a fixed price, and at the minute you chose your name and line are shown on the clock. Nothing is posted to you. We do not sell phone talk time, recharges, vouchers, or any financial product.

What people use it for

• A birthday, at the minute someone was born.
• An anniversary, a thank you, an apology, a private joke.
• A business that wants its name on the clock for a minute, shown with an "Ad" label.

What you get

• Your chosen name, and a short line if you add one, shown on the clock for one minute.
• A page for that minute, at a private link you can keep or send: it counts down, shows the minute live, and afterwards keeps a commemorative certificate under the real sky of that minute, as seen from the centre of India.
• If it is a gift, the page opens sealed, then the name flips onto the board.

It is a display service and a keepsake. Nobody receives any right over time itself, and a dedication cannot be transferred, sold on or turned into money or credit.

How it is kept safe

Every name and line is checked before it is shown. Lines are read by a person. Every minute's page has a report button, and we act on reports within 72 hours.

Who runs it

Buy a Minute is operated by Excelsior Ventures, a sole proprietorship based in Amravati, Maharashtra, India. You can reach us at clock@buyaminute.in. Full details are on the Contact Us page.

The sky on the keepsake

The stars, the Moon and the Sun on each keepsake are worked out for that exact minute, as seen from the centre of India (21.15° N, 79.08° E), and the colours follow that day's real sunrise and sunset. Star positions come from the Hipparcos catalogue, as packaged in d3-celestial by Olaf Frohn (© 2015, BSD 3-Clause licence, provided "as is" without warranty).
